Land Artists Create Mural of 6,000 Kids Playing to Mark World Children’s Day

Land artists from a UK-based art collective recently painted a mural on a hillside in West Yorkshire, England, featuring 6,000 life-sized figures of children playing to mark World Children’s Day, November 20.

Artists from Sand In Your Eye created the 110-meter-wide image, covering over 11,000 square meters in total, over three days on a hillside above the market town of Hebden Bridge. When viewed from the sky, the mural forms a child’s face.

Sand In Your Eye said the project, entitled 6000 Children, aims to raise awareness that up to 6,000 children are at risk of dying daily worldwide, as an indirect result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Credit: Sand In Your Eye via Storyful
