Crews Control Fire Burning Near Power Plant in Turkey

Air support arrived to tackle a wildfire burning near a thermal power plant in Milas, Turkey, on August 4, the city’s mayor said.

Footage streamed live by local resident Oner Altaş shows the fire burning near the Kemerkoy plant the night before, on August 3, when ground crews worked to quell the flames.

By Wednesday, the fire was “almost over,” Milas Mayor Muhammet Tokat said.

The plant’s operator said there was no immediate threat to the plant or surrounding areas.
