Drone Footage Shows Migrants Arriving in Del Rio Days Ahead of Buildup

Migrants crossed the Rio Grande river into Del Rio, Texas, on September 13, days before the city’s mayor said more than 10,000 people had gathered below the Del Rio International Bridge, footage here shows.

Mayor Bruno Lozano said on September 16 that the situation in Del Rio was “the worst-case scenario of worst-case scenarios,” he warned of potential for a terrorist attack and the spread of COVID-19. He said that the people under the bridge were predominantly migrants from Haiti. He also stated that, in addition to those waiting under the bridge, there are approximately 2,000-3,000 in detention with border patrol services.

KTRK-TV Houston reported that food and water have become scarce as temperatures soared, with migrants gathering beneath the bridge for shade. Credit: Auden Cabello via Storyful
