Lightning Flashes Across Sky During Spectacular Storm in Sydney

A man was dead and thousands of people across Sydney were without power as severe thunderstorms moved through New South Wales on February 18, bringing strong winds and large hailstones, reports said.

A 37-year-old man was killed after being struck by a flying gas bottle during the thunderstorms, according to news reports.

The electric company Endeavour Energy said it was working to restore power to 21,000 of its customers after the storm downed power lines in northwest Sydney and the Hawkesbury region on Tuesday night.
