Malaysian PM, Berjaya Corp and Genting Group deny Forest City report on Bloomberg

All three parties say they did not take part in talks.

Malaysian prime minister Anwar Ibrahim as well as officials of Berjaya Corporation and Genting Group have denied the Bloomberg report on opening a casino in Forest City.

On April 25, Bloomberg reported that Berjaya Corp founder Vincent Tan and Genting Group’s CEO Lim Kok Thay met to discuss a casino license in Forest City.

According to Bloomberg, the talks were preliminary.

Berjaya has since denied the claims. The company also noted that the Bloomberg report contained statements that were “false”, “untrue” and “unwarranted”.

Genting Malaysia also said that it had not taken part in talks with the Malaysian government about the opening of a casino in Forest City.

Anwar also denied the plans.
