Britney Spears to appear remotely at conservatorship hearing

Britney Spears addresses a court remotely over her long-standing legal conservatorship with her father. A lawyer for the singer says she requested to speak directly to a Los Angeles Superior Court about her conservatorship. The case centres around the star’s legal arrangement which gives her dad, Jamie Spears, control over many aspects of Britney’s life - including her estate, finances, health and business decisions, plus her personal life such as restricting visitors. Her father was originally appointed temporary conservator in February 2008 after Britney was put under a psychiatric hold in LA, following a public struggle with her mental health. That same year in October, Jamie became her permanent conservator. Britney’s father stepped down as her personal conservator temporarily in September 2019 due to “personal health reasons” although he’s remained as a co-conservator of his daughter's finances.
