Taylor Swift might be taking a short break from her hugely successful Eras Tour, but the pop star is still at the forefront of pop culture.

The upcoming action-comedy film The Fall Guy, for instance, features her most iconic song in her catalogue: All Too Well (10 Minute Version). It was first heard in one of the trailers but later revealed to be included in the movie too - and in a pretty significant way.

And, it’s no surprise that the two leads of the film - Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt - are fans of the singer.

Speaking to Yahoo Southeast Asia at the Universal Backlot in Los Angeles on April 4, Blunt, 41, said, “I took my kids to a karaoke party that one of their friends had and it was all Taylor Swift. It’s when you realise the impact she’s had on children’s lives.

“Like every single song they sang was a Taylor song, and it was a three-hour party. It was unbelievable.”

Blunt is married to fellow actor John Krasinski, and the couple has two daughters - Hazel, nine, and Violet, seven.

How All Too Well came to be in the film

As for the story of how Swift’s song made it into the film, director David Leitch - known for his work on John Wick and Bullet Train - revealed that he didn’t have that song selected at the beginning.

But, he knew that the scene was going to be an emotional moment that tugged on your heartstrings, but also a fun moment that pulled the rug out from under the audience.

In a separate interview with Yahoo, Leitch, 48, explained, “Kelly McCormick, my producing partner and creative, she was playing Taylor Swift all the time and lobbying for Taylor Swift.”

When McCormick was playing one of her playlists and All Too Well came on, Leitch felt like a “light bulb went off”.

He added, “It just felt so right for the images that were being told, and it's so emotional, and it is sort of nostalgic, and referential. And then it just felt contemporary and fresh.”

Once he had that light-bulb moment, Leitch knew he had to figure out how to get it in the movie.

Of course, Swift is aware her song is being used, and as Leitch quipped, “She was compensated for it.”

He added, “I would hope, like, she would be happy that it’s in there, and I think because it’s such a charming moment. And it’s, you know, these two (Gosling and Blunt) [are] the biggest actors on the planet right now.”

Well, we also pointed out that now he had two of the biggest actors, and probably the biggest pop star, on the planet in his film.

What’s their Taylor Swift song?

Besides The Fall Guy, Leitch also has a sort of connection to the pop star. He shared that the stunt company he was with choreographed the music video and the stunts for Swift’s Bad Blood music video.

That’s also why he selected Bad Blood as his Taylor Swift song.

“I remember her coming down to our place and training with the stunt people, and one of our extended stunt family was choreographing the music video,” he recalled, while clarifying that he wasn’t personally involved in that project.

For Blunt, she had a hard time picking though she singled out Cruel Summer and You Need To Calm Down.

She shared, “I really love her Folklore album, but I also love Lover, I love Cruel Summer, love You Need To Calm Down. Do I need to keep going? I mean, I can keep going.”

Gosling, whose performance of All Too Well (Ryan’s Version) on Saturday Night Live drew the approval of Swift, cited the titular song as his favourite.

The 43-year-old said, “That one got me. All Too Well got me when I was in the car… The 10-minute version. I need all those minutes just to get it all out and collect myself.”

Inspired by the hit 1980s TV series, The Fall Guy stars Gosling as Colt Seavers, a battle-scarred stuntman who left the business to focus on both his physical and mental health, but is drafted back into service when the star of a mega-budget studio movie - directed by his ex, Jody Moreno (Blunt) - goes missing.

The movie also stars Winston Duke, Hannah Waddingham, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Stephanie Hsu.

The Fall Guy will be released in local cinemas on 25 April.
