Pig-themed lanterns light up Chinatown
Themed “Celebration of Abundance and Prosperity”, the 2019 Chinatown Chinese New Year Festival lights up the streets with 2688 handcrafted lanterns, out of which 180 are adorable and vibrant pig-themed lanterns.
The main centrepiece, a family of pigs atop an overflowing purse of gold coins, sits at the cross junction of Eu Tong Sen Street and Upper Cross Street, towering over 12-meter tall.
The official light-up and opening ceremony will take place on 20 January 2019, from 6-10pm. The lanterns will be on display until 6 March 2019.
