National Guard Airdrops Hay to Cows Stranded in Nebraska Flooding

The Nebraska National Guard said it delivered bales of hay to a herd of cows stranded in floodwaters in Richland on March 20.

Video posted to their Twitter account shows the helicopters making a flight over inundated farmland, identifying a group of cattle, and rolling bales of hay out the back of a helicopter.

“Historic” flooding destroyed farmland and killed livestock across the region, media reported. Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts said on Wednesday that “farmers are bearing the brunt of ‘the most widespread destruction we have ever seen in our state’s history.’” Credit: Spc.
