Firefighters Work Overnight to Tackle Bootleg Fire in Oregon

Firefighters worked through the night to tackle the Bootleg Fire, now at over 400,000 acres, in Oregon, officials said.

This footage, released by authorities, shows the difference in fire behavior overnight versus daytime on July 22 into July 23.

“This video illustrates the difference in fire behavior from night shift around 11 pm to this morning around 11 am,” officials wrote on Facebook. “We have most of our operational success at night on the Bootleg Fire, where many of our resources have been working on night shift since arriving to this wildfire.”

“Night shift is tough on firefighters,” they continued. “Adjusting to sleeping during the day and not being able to see very well in the dark are just a couple of issues.” Credit: Bootleg Fire via Storyful
