Timelapse Captures Comet NEOWISE Above Principality Stadium in Cardiff

Comet NEOWISE was spotted above the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, on July 10. Alyn Wallace, a photographer who has previously captured footage of the comet, recorded this timelapse.

The comet can be seen slowly moving across the sky above the stadium.

According to Scientific American, the comet’s name comes from its first being spotted on March 27 by scientists using the Near-Earth Object Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (NEOWISE) space telescope, though its official title is C/2020 F3.

Local media outlets reported the comet will be visible from early July until mid-August, when it will head back toward the outer solar system. Credit: Alyn Wallace via Storyful
