Rescue Efforts Stretched as Honduran Valley is Flooded for the Fourth Time

The Fire Department of Honduras maintained search and rescue efforts in the village of Tegucigalpita on Monday, November 23, due to Iota’s aftermath.

The Sula Valley, which includes cities such as San Pedro Sula, Choloma, and Puerto Cortés that have already been devastated by Iota, was flooded for the fourth time, local media reported.

On Monday, the Permanent Contingency Commission of Honduras (COPECO) warned that the Chamelecon River had flooded the valley after rising to more than two meters.

Footage posted by the Fire Department of Honduras shows a clip of authorities entering a building submerged in floodwater. The second clip shows them assisting an evacuation across a flooded street. Credit: Fire Department of Honduras via Storyful
