Rescued Tapir Surprises Wildlife Refuge Visitor by Nibbling Her Toes

A friendly tapir ventured to the edge of an enclosure at a wildlife refuge in Yolosa, Bolivia, to enjoy the company of a visiting biologist and taste her feet.

This footage filmed by Natalia Cara de Medeiros shows the herbivorous mammal’s comical interest in her toes at the La Senda Verde refuge.

“This adorable tapir was rescued from illegal trafficking when he was only eight months old, so he had to grow up at a wildlife refuge,” she told Storyful. “My cabin was right next to his enclosure, and he would come and listen to me playing the ukulele. It was warm, so I took off my boots, and he really enjoyed nibbling on my toes!” Credit: Natalia Cara de Medeiros via Storyful
