'Who Does This Kind of Stuff?' Mystery Metal Monolith Discovered in Utah Desert

Workers with Utah’s Department of Public Safety were left baffled upon discovering a mysterious metal monolith in the state’s southeast on November 18.

During a mission to help count bighorn sheep for the Department of Wildlife Resources, the air crew discovered the metal structure in a remote area of red rock.

Video published by the department shows crew members investigating the monolith, with voices heard saying, “Who does this kind of stuff?” and describing it jokingly as an “alien life form.”

The department said it was not clear who may have put the installation there, while refusing to disclose the location in order to discourage would-be visitors.

“It is illegal to install structures or art without authorization on federally managed public lands, no matter what planet you’re from,” the Utah Department of Public Safety wrote on their website.
