Hospital's COVID-19 Center Evacuated After Sinkhole Swallows Parked Cars in Naples

A large sinkhole opened in a car park outside a hospital in Naples, Italy, on Friday morning, January 8, forcing the evacuation of a COVID-19 residence, local media reported.

Fire crews said they responded to the scene at the Ospedale del Mare, with the sinkhole covering approximately 500 square meters. Several parked cars had fallen into the hole, authorities said. The Local Italy said witnesses reported hearing an explosion at the site.
