Oklahoma City Zoo Announces Birth of Giraffe Calf

The Oklahoma City Zoo announced a new addition to its giraffe family, as first-time mum Julu gave birth to a calf on September 15.

The female calf, who has yet to be named, stood up in less than an hour after being born at a height of five feet, seven inches, the zoo said.

Video shared by the zoo shows the calf standing and attempting to walk while her mother cares for her.

The newborn will “continue to spend time bonding with Julu and her herd mates behind the scenes,” the zoo said. Credit: Oklahoma City Zoo via Storyful
