Footage shot from inside the US Capitol shows clashes between police and Trump supporters who stormed the building during Congressional sessions on the afternoon of January 6.

Journalist Jon Farina captured video as crowds packed into a narrow doorway and corridor, where they faced off against police wearing helmets and holding shields. People in the crowd could be heard chanting “let us in,” “USA,” and directing violent threats toward police.

People are seen grabbing the shields and batons from police, yanking at police officers’ gas masks, and pushing against the police line before gas is released in an attempt to disperse them. One officer, bleeding from his mouth, is seen yelling in distress as he is crushed in a doorway.

Trump supporters eventually filled the interior of the Capitol complex, where protester Ashli Babbitt was fatally shot by police.

Officer Brian D Sicknick of the US Capitol Police also died as a result of the riot, and three others, named by DC Police as Rosanne Boyland, Kevin Greeson, and Benjamin Phillips, died in what were described as medical emergencies.

Police said 68 people were arrested and that officers recovered six firearms and two pipe bombs. Credit: StatusCoup via Storyful
