Smoke Billows From Lake Fire in Los Angeles County

Smoke billowed from a fast-moving brush fire that began on August 12 in Santa Clarita, California, and grew to 10,500 acres on August 13, reports said.

The Lake Fire was first reported on Wednesday evening near Lake Hughes and spread overnight, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The blaze destroyed three homes in the area, and another 5,000 structures are threatened, according to reports.

Chief Deputy of Emergency Operations David Richardson said the fast-moving fire had split off in two directions – toward Pine Canyon Road and toward Lake Hughes Road.

Firefighters from multiple agencies responded to the fire.
